About the MTN Foundation Scholarship

The MTN Scholarship, which is part of the MTN Youth Development Program, is an annual platform for recognizing and rewarding dedicated and performing students across Nigeria’s public tertiary institutions. We have selected three types of scholarships to meet the diverse needs of our excellent scholars:

MTN Science and Technology Scholarship 2023

The main program since 2010 is open to 300 eligible level students who are studying courses related to science and technology. In Nigeria’s public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics and colleges of education), 300 successful students will receive scholarships worth N200,000.00 every year until their graduation. The required grade must be maintained.

MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS) 2023

Launched in 2012 and targeting eligible 200 and 300 level blind students studying any course in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics and colleges of education), 60 successful blind students will Receive a scholarship worth N200,000.00 every year until graduation. The required grade must be maintained.

Top 10 UTME Scholarships 2023

Additionally, most recently in 2020, every year the top 10 UTME scoring applicants as announced by JAMB are automatically eligible for the UTME Top 10 Scholarships. Successful applicants will receive the scholarship. Education worth N200,000.00 from level 100 to graduation. If they can maintain the grades they want.

Eligibility Requirements for MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS) 2023

  • MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) and MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) are open to Nigerian students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics and colleges of education).

Course of Study

  • The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) is open to 300 level students studying science and technology related courses in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics and colleges of education).
  • The MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) is open to 200 and 300 level blind students studying any course in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics and colleges of education).

Education level

MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS):

  • This application is open to students who have passed the second semester exam at level 200 up to level 300 and students currently at level 300, as we understand that the academic calendar is not consistent with all public higher education institutions.

MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS):

This application is open to 200 and 300 level blind students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics and colleges of education). However, it is also for blind students studying law. It is a 5 year program. Only 300 level students can apply for the MTN scholarship.

Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)

MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS):

  • STEM students at public universities and colleges of education are required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (second class credit).
  • STEM students in public polytechnics must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program and must secure admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) program.
  • Direct Entry Level STEM students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (above credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program and must have secured admission to Level 300/Year 3 at a public university.

MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS):

  • Blind students in universities or colleges of study must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5.
  • Blind students in public polytechnics must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.0 from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program and must secure admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) program.
