  • The AIG Scholarship was launched in 2017 to provide a unique opportunity for West Africans interested in a career in public service to pursue a master’s degree in public policy at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford.
  • Since 2017, 29 scholarships worth more than £50,000 each have been awarded to future public sector leaders who have demonstrated a passion for the public sector.
  • AIG Scholars spend their entire year at top universities in the world. They gain knowledge from outstanding academic staff and expert practitioners. and interact with other government leaders. future from around the world after graduation Academics will return to their home countries and use their learning to support policymaking. Support reform and participate in the development of their own country

Program details

  • Financial Support: Funding will be provided for tuition, living expenses, and stipends for the summer program.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Comprehensive coaching and mentoring will be offered to help academics manage their time at Oxford and make the most of their experience.
  • Career Development: AIG Scholars will receive full support in planning their career development path and access opportunities aligned with their areas of interest. and make use of the knowledge gained from Oxford.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum level two qualification.
  • Be a Nigerian currently working in the public sector (Ministries, Departments, Agencies & Parastatals) at the federal or state level.
  • Between 25 and 45 years of age
  • Have at least seven (7) years of work experience (including public and private sectors).

Work experience:

  • AIG Scholars will embark on summer placements during which they will gain additional knowledge and experience in their field of interest. and build a worldwide network

Schedule date

  • July 31, 2023: Applications open for our 2024 intake.
  • September 15, 2023: Last day to apply for AIG scholarships.
  • September 23, 2023: You are invited to take part in the computer test.
  • 5 – 12 October 2023: Essay submission.
  • 25 – 30 October 2023: Video interview
  • December 2023: Final Selection
  • January 5, 2024: Deadline for MPP applications.
  • May 2024: Pre-departure orientation
