U.S. Government Fulbright Teaching Exchange Program 2024

The Fulbright Teaching Exchange Program offers a variety of options for K-12 educators from the United States. and from primary and secondary schools in participating countries and territories.

The Fulbright Teacher Exchange values ​​applicants from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and school types. Fulbright Teacher Exchange participants prepare students with the skills to successfully engage with the world by bringing a global perspective to U.S. schools.

Each year we send nearly 120 educators from across the United States to participate in overseas programs that range from two weeks to six months. Accredited educators have a wide range of teaching experience in public, private, and charter schools.

Value and duration of the award: The Teaching Excellence and Academic Achievement Program is fully funded, subject to funding availability.

Eligible Countries: every country

  • Current full-time secondary teacher in an institution that primarily serves the local population.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
  • Five or more years of classroom experience as an English teacher English as a Foreign Language (EFL), Mathematics, Science or Social Studies including special education teachers in those subjects
  • Proficient in written and spoken English with a TOEFL score of 450 on the paper-based TOEFL or equivalent English language test**
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continue teaching after completion of the course; and
  • Fill out the application

Secondary teachers include both middle and high school teachers who work with students between the ages of approximately 12 and 18. Teachers responsible for teaching additional grades must teach more than 50% of the middle or high school students. Working hours are eligible for the program.
